How to Install Darwin Steaming Server

Apple , I mean the Apple Inc. has a open source tool (yes, OPEN SOURCE) that we can use for streaming videos.

Its called Darwin Streaming Server (DSS). It can play a quicktime and mpeg4 formats using RTSP(Real time streaming protocol) and RTP (Real time protocol). This tool is basically for MAC and LINUX OS (Sorry, Windows users).
Darwin Streaming Server is available as a free download under the Apple Public Source License. You can download it from here

Step1: Download the source code (~31 MB)
Step2: Untar/UnZip it
Step3: Go to the directory DarwinStreamingSrvrx.x.x-Linux

Step4: Run ./install script in the terminal to install
Step5: Create administrator : To administer the Darwin Streaming Server you must create an administrator user

Step6: Create admin password
Step7: Goto http://www.yourdomain.com:1220 using any web browser to configure server.
Step7: Start configuring the server step by step.

Step8: Finally after configuring URL, Path to the files on server, Port address etc you will get final screen with all the details.
Step9: Enjoy the streaming on your phones, PC etc.
